May 5, 2024 - Guitar Ensemble

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today my Guitar Ensemble takes to the stage at 3:00 PM in the Grewen Auditorium at Le Moyne College. It will be the last concert of the semester for our Visual and Performing Arts Department. I am proud of my guitar students. They put in the work. Now we celebrate with a concert that will feature everything from Bach to Noah Kahan. Three of my students will be premiering new compositions they created as part of their classwork. Impressive. Today’s concert is free to the public.

I have not been able to fill you in on the adventures of the last couple of weeks. WAY too much to do. And no time to write about what I’m doing. Even today is a little insane. I couldn’t be in two places at once, so Bill Muench will be flying solo at the screening of The Artist & the Astronaut in Maryland this afternoon. If you are near there, stop in and say hi.

All of our concerts this week were wonderful. One in particular was memorable. The 20th Anniversary of the Jazzuits! Our vocal jazz ensemble is spectacular and has been led by founder Carol Jacobe all of these years. Over forty alumni returned to perform with the ensemble. I will post some pictures for you when we get them.

I will not be filling you in on my day-long Pedagogical Seminar yesterday. As scintillating as it was for us professor types, I’m not sure that it would be the casual banter you are used to coming from me.

I will be writing from the road as we dive into next week. We depart at 9:00 AM sharp tomorrow morning.
