This Week at the Studio

I wanted to catch you up on some of the projects we are currently working on at the studio. The first week of 2021 is in the books. I hate to say it, but aren’t you kinda looking ahead to 2022 already?

I also have been asked to share my thoughts on the current state of affairs in our nation’s capital. I usually keep my personal thoughts and comments limited to my Journal. You’ll find those thoughts in the Journal section of this website.

I begin the year as a man without a band. That in itself is kinda weird to say. I don’t feel like that. I work every day with Brett and this morning Shawn and I talked about when we can get him into the studio to play some drums. Scottie and I meet every week, and Jeff and I are working on some new tunes. I will be checking in with Bruce soon too. He left Facebook, so I want to make sure that I publicize any of his upcoming gigs on this website or on my Facebook page. Anyway, we’re all still brothers. Men who miss their brother Doug, but will carry on as best we can... in other forms.

Brett and I continue our work on the film The Artist and the Astronaut. Our team is working hard to deliver this film to the world. All the shooting is in the can. Bill Muench, the producer, and I have made some decisions about additions to a couple of scenes for clarity's sake. He sent us the updated files. It’s always ugly to adjust the timeline of a movie, so we’re experiencing some tech pain. It’s all about frame-accurate sync. Shane and Neil are plodding through those issues, while Brett and I are laser-focused on the score and sound effects. It is thrilling to work on a major motion picture. Just a little daunting.

The Shepherd’s Quest is launched. It’s a Christmas play. We recorded all the audio here at the studio. I just finished uploading the masters and the art files for the CD. It’s in the stores, but I suspect they’ll relaunch the PR campaign in the Fall. We will keep you posted.

Record Store Radio will launch episode 16 later today. This is a fun one. Elena James is a delight. I won’t spend a lot of time telling you about her and her career, you should listen to the podcast. But, I will mention that she is in Bob Dylan’s Band. Next week we will be interviewing three new budding Nashville Singer/Songwriters. I’m sure there will be some interesting tips from them. I always love to interview up and coming artists. You never know who might pop. I remember my young pal Cindy Lauper before the hit. Who knew? We did. Check out https://recordstoreradio.biz/

Full Cast Audio – Brett is finishing up an edit of a new audiobook. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It will be another opportunity to write a score. I will give you a sneak peek soon.

There is a ton more activity around here, with some major league talent. Watch this space for previews of some big projects. And... don’t hold your breath, but I have been writing up a storm. Can a new album by Todd and friends be far behind?

Count on it.
